26 Parr Avenue, cnr Playfair Road, North Curl Curl, 1949–51 (unbuilt)
Snelling designed this flat-roofed residence for Mr and Mrs A.R. (or J.P.?) Fullarton in 1949 but is not the tile-roofed, 1940s-50s house that currently occupies this sloping, suburban, corner site.
The plans show a modest two-bedroom, one bathroom home for a young family, with the bedrooms oriented east to Playfair Road, the living-dining room facing north to a terrace overlooking Parr Avenue (with a stone fireplace on the west wall), a shared bathroom and pedestrian entry lobby projecting from the west side of the building and a semi-detached carport at the south-eastern (highest) corner of the site.
Surprisingly, the elevations did not clarify any significant slope or contours for this site—other schemes designed by Snelling during his years as a private architecture student show much more detailed drawings of site plans and terrain contours.
